More Welsh Parish Registers to Come

There was some confusion among Welsh genealogist this June as to whether FindMyPast's Welsh parish register collection had been fully published. Language used in the article announcing the publication of a further 4 million parish register entries suggested that no more records were to come. The announcement heralding this project stated there would be an index of 8 million entries, but to date only 6 million have been published.

Communication with an employee of FindMyPast has revealed that there are indeed more records to be added to the Welsh collection. Given the length of time since the last publication of Welsh records and the assertion that there would be around 8 million entries published, it is likely there are another 2 million records to come. It appears the remaining records largely cover central Wales. The communication also suggested that several gaps in registers already published will be filled.

It is not clear whether the collection will include records held at archives in England.
